The client: a real estate developer who acquired the majority stake in a construction contractor.
Project: tax due diligence services.
Why this project was a challenge and what is the added value of the consultant: we worked for the buyer, being interested in correctly identifying and quantifying any tax risks that would have influenced the price, respectively the purchase decision. The difficulty was that the period subject to tax due diligence referred to the period when tax incentives in construction sector were introduced and modified shortly after their introduction, with implementing rules published later, which could have led to incorrect applications of the legislation.
